Battery VPA by state
Pick your state to see the program.
Each state runs its own grid programs and rules, so the agreement is tailored to where you live.
Live service areas are not confirmed yet. This list fills in from LIVE_STATES once [STATES] is supplied.
Why it costs you nothing upfront
The battery earns its keep on the grid.
Buying a battery yourself runs roughly $20k to $40k. Lithium cells last about ten years. For most homeowners the replacement bill arrives before the savings have caught up, which is a hard way to spend $30,000.
Saeng owns the hardware instead. We enroll it in a virtual power plant, and the revenue it earns there covers the equipment, the install, the monitoring and the eventual replacement. You pay [MONTHLY_COST] and nothing upfront.
How the Saeng Battery VPA actually works.
You do not buy the battery
Saeng owns the equipment. No loan, no balloon payment, and no five figure replacement invoice in ten years.
Grid services pay for it
The battery participates in a real virtual power plant, supplying dispatches and grid services. That revenue covers the cost.
You get backup and protection
Backup power during outages, plus full maintenance and replacement coverage for the [TERM_YEARS] term. The financial risk sits with Saeng.

Questions homeowners ask.
What is the Battery VPA, in one sentence?
Saeng installs and owns a home battery, enrolls it in a virtual power plant, and the revenue that battery earns on the grid covers its cost, so you pay nothing upfront.
Who owns the battery, and what happens if it wears out?
Saeng owns it for the full term. Maintenance and replacement are ours to cover. If the battery reaches the end of its life during the agreement, replacing it is our cost, not yours.
What is the difference between a VPA and a lease or PPA?
A lease charges you for the equipment. A PPA charges you for the power it produces. A VPA does neither. The battery earns its keep by providing grid services, and you pay a flat monthly fee.
Will the battery back up my whole home?
It backs up essential loads. How much depends on your panel and what you choose to protect. We confirm the specifics during the design step, before anything is committed.
What happens if the solar panels or inverter I already own stop working?
Equipment you own stays yours to maintain. The Saeng agreement covers the battery and the hardware we install. We will tell you plainly which is which before you sign.
Where is the Battery VPA available?
In a small number of states today, with more opening as each grid program allows. Enter your ZIP and we will tell you whether your address qualifies.
